Long time no Blog

since starting my coursework back in july i have learn various new skills using different editing applications on the mac. I firstly started by using a new editing application called Final Cut, this is an advanced editing app that helps to use more in depth techniques when editing video and sound. From using Final cut i have learn various new editing techniques the first was Quad screening, this helped to make my video more effective and give it more of a music video edge. as well as this i have developed my understanding on other advanced editing skills such as green screen and colour keying. Also since starting this courseowrk i have realised that i can not work wel on my own. For example the pairs in my class have managed to do there product in a lot better time as they are able to share the work load between eachother as well as motivationg each other to do the work. If i was to do the coursework again i would deffenatly try to be part of a group to help motivat me and do better for my work . the final progression that i made was my technique to film. i learnt how to use a variety of differnt angles and shots such as ecu cu and long shots to make my video more professional and effective.

Moving Forward

Today myself and media teacher Mr Michie discussed some new ideas for the opening of my video. He suggested some sort of basic animation to interpret the scene of a zoo. From this i gathered up the correct materials to make this happen and started to make up the shots. From this i discovered that what i first thought was the right size was really not, the camera could not focus on the scale that i had chosen and in order for it to all fit in the camera would have to be at the height of a roof. Because of this i learnt that the scale would have to be a lot smaller so i look forward to crack onto this in the next few days during my frees.

In other news, i have set a small deadline for myself with a list of shots which i must ensure will be shot by the 9th of jan. i know i must meet this deadline so that i can teach myself that missing deadlines will cause serious set backs.

jut relised havnt updated in ages well basically iv done a lot from filming greenscreen on two different screens put into video look sok not best but goes well with video genre
i have now paired up i think so work load is less
intro to film is done and editied and now middle is being filmed well yer working on critical research atm so not too much cw atm

Today i put into practice the new skills that i learnt last night and tried some quad splits and they look awesome. because the testing went so well, i have decided to inlclude them in my final piece.

until the first deadline and i am not looking forward to it. i have followed my shooting schedule to plan however i still seem to be behind in what i should have got done i have now only filmed the beginning and the ending of the video and i must now focus on the middle part in order to do this i must try to keep to my schedule as much as possible as i know that this is the only way that i will get it done on time.

if Mr Miche or Mr ford read this please can you comment this post with a date or time that i can meet up for a tutorial for how i am doing with my coursework.

Filming

Today i filmed the opening part of my music video. i found it pretty easy to navigate around my storyboard and knew what parts to film and how long each shot should roughly last for. This really helped as managed to get most of the shots done in a short space of time which meant that i had a lot more time to edit my piece in final cut. from the shots that i got i managed to make 30 seconds of film which is a great contribution for the rest of the music video. I used a variety of different shot types including mid shots close ups and long shots, i used all of these with things such as a close up of the male character putting on the scarf. i also used mids shots of he male again putting his jacket on i only used a mid shot for this as his legs were irrelevant to the shot. I used a friends house in Amersham to film, this was because it is a a nice rural area that has good scenery this means that it would fit in with my criteria and also helps to fit in with the mise en scene including the props and characters life styles.

I dont think that i ever mentioned this but the little poll on my profile helped me to decide which genre on music i would choose for my music video.

half of the people that voted in the poll chose rock out of the four catagories
the reason that i chose rock was because i knew that this would apply to the majority of people as the majority of people chose it.

I learnt the hard way about my shooting schedule i planned to film several shots for the opening of my music video. However due to the Stupid English weather i was unable to film as it was raining too much and i need it to be sunny. Because of this i now have to add a new time to shoot the piece that i have missed. This means that my schedule will have to be edited to fit in with when i actual shoot.

What i learnt from this exsperice was that i should always plan extra shoots on my shooting schedule to allow for bad weather or people not being able to turn up for the shoot. This would allow me to save time as i know that i would be able to shoot again in another allocated time and still be on time to meet all of my deadlines.

If i was to create a new shooting schedule i would deffenently add make up shoots on the schedule.

Have been gone for one whole month, sorry guys right lot of catching up to do,

. I have finally started filming my final work piece.
. I have managed to shoot part of the ending scene of the video and to add with scene i must now add the band to the shots.

In the next few weeks i am hoping to get the rest of the video filmed so that i can start editing.

The App that i will be using to edit and construct my piece is Final Cut, i have used various websites to help me learn how to use the App. tutorials were very useful as they taught me little tricks that would help add the finishing touches to my video.

i will put up some of the deleted scenes from my first shoot to show everybody the high quality of the App that i am using.

hey guys and girls today i spent most of my frees uploading my storyboard onto the mac and putting them into i movie with my soundtrack, it took a while to get used to the editing as t has been a while since i have used i movie but i got the hang of it after a while and should be done with it in the next few days, this will relay help me when it comes to visulising the shots and how much time i will have to work with.

Big Risk

I have taken a huge risk and re drawn all 12 pages of my storyboards i have updated them by using both better drawing techniques and also by annotating each shot with what is happening in the shot, the type of shot i would use for that scene and also the lyrics underneath so i could keep in control of what is happening. yer so there we go there is todays update.

I have finaly chosen a song that i will be creating my music video for it is by The Script and it is called "The Man Who Cant Be Moved" the song falls into the pop music genre so therefore my chosen audience is pop fans. I came to the descion of choosing this song because of the research and questionaires that i caried out on friends family and members of the public. Questions ranged from faviourte groups to Viwes on my practice videos, after i had collected the data i used it ti help make my decsion of the song. Also from the data i created a storybiard of what i was going to film using what the people said they like to see in pop videos including complete narrative with lots of lip sync. I think that using the research from the audeince of what they want to see will maxamise the succsess of the final video.

I have just brainstormed some ideas of what settings and props i can use for differnt parts of the lyrics for the song pretty eyes.

This can consist of a range of differnt shots of a flash back of a couple lying in a park on the grass then to shots of arguments between the couple.

to create a music video, form looking at the lyrics of this song, i see it is based around a love story and break ups and memories.

i have found a good song that also features this and i think that it would be a good video for anybody who is using the same type of story line
